KARACHI: Spokesperson of Sindh Government and Advisor for Law, Environment & Coastal Development, Barrister Murtaza Wahab has said that the work of rehabilitation of road infrastructure including sanitation and installation of street lights in all districts of Karachi is in full swing.

Performing its duties in the field the district administration has not been given any new funds or special grants. The issue is not of authority but of good intentions. He added that all the districts of the city, especially Central and Korangi districts, have been cleaned, including highways and intersections. Installation of street lights, rehabilitation of road infrastructure is being expedited, areas where garbage have been piled up for many months are now being cleared which is a good thing. Sanitation works are being carried out by the residents of the area.

He said that it also proves that the problem is not of authority but of intention. Long time absent staff has been brought to their duties. Daily attendance of employees and staff is being monitored which has not only improved the sanitation arrangements in the city but garbage that has been lying for a long time is now being cleaned up.

Roads are being cleaned by machinery, which was not seen in the field, now it is visible in the field. He also said that for garbage cleaning, installation of street lights and other works no new funds or special grants are being provided to the district administration but still all the work is being done with the same resources, which is very encouraging.

He said that PPP government of Sindh is committed towards the citizens of the province and will eradicate illegal encroachments from the city, including filth, for which the citizens and all institutions are appealed to cooperate fully with the government of Sindh so that the city could be restored to its original pristine condition.
