PTA, FIA asked to close down IGP's fake twitter accounts

LAHORE: After identifying two fake twitter accounts of Punjab IGP Inam Ghani for spreading disinformation among the people on social media, the Punjab police have asked the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to close down these accounts and take appropriate action against the handlers.

According to a letter written to the PTA and the FIA, DIG Operations Punjab Sohail Akhtar Sukhera has identified two fake twitter accounts - @Inaamghani and @Inamghanii - of Punjab IGP Inam Ghani and requested the authorities to immediately close these accounts and take appropriate legal action against the handlers.

The DIG said that legal action should be taken against the handlers so that the process of dissemination of wrong news on media impersonating IG Punjab Inam Ghani could be halted. The letter said that public is being betrayed by spreading fake news by these accounts made in the name of IG Punjab which may spoil law and order in society along with causing difficulty to the citizens.
