China releases India's intelligence staff

Updated 14 Sep, 2020

That China has always shown a readiness to give more than is strictly necessary or expected is a fact that has found its best expression from its decision to release India's five intelligence staff who had disguised themselves as hunters. No doubt China has gone the extra mile to lower tensions with an extremely belligerent India, which has claimed that "hunters" had accidentally strayed into Chinese territory. India's intelligence staff were escorted back across the high-altitude frontier by the People's Liberation Army to the border town of Kibithu. In my view, China's action must have made New Delhi feel ashamed.
