6th September Defence day: Message from Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan Nishan-e-Imtiaz (M) Chief of Air Staff

07 Sep, 2020

TEXT: 6th September, every year, revives memories of our nation's resolve to fight against aggression. On this day in 1965, the valiant Armed Forces of Pakistan defeated a numerically larger enemy while rendering supreme sacrifices in defence of our motherland. Indeed, the spirit of the nation and the extraordinary valour of the Armed Forces will continue to be a source of inspiration for generations to come. We salute and pay homage to our Shuhada and Ghazis on this Defence Day, whose sacrifices are the reason for our sovereignty.

Pakistan is a peace-loving country that believes in cordial relations with its neighbours and the world at large. However, our desire for peace and cordiality must not be misconstrued. As a resilient nation, we have the capability to surmount all internal and external challenges.

Pakistan Air Force is the proud custodian of our sovereign blue skies and ever ready to deter any aggression. While being cognizant of the evolving security calculus and the military build-up in the region, PAF is determined to defend Pakistan's air space at all costs with undivided attention. Reviving the spirit of 1965, during Operation Swift Retort on 27 February, 2019, PAF upheld its legacy of being an air force "Second to None".

The nation must stand reassured that the aerial defence of Pakistan is in the hands of a competent and dedicated air force. It is gratifying that, over the years, PAF has made enormous strides and evolved into a modern air force. Our indigenously produced JF-17 Thunder-the pride of Pakistan-is a manifestation of our resolve and capability.

I thank all citizens of Pakistan for their continued support and love for PAF. I assure the nation that, in synergy with Army and Navy, Pakistan Air Force is fully prepared to foil any nefarious designs against our motherland, while living up to the nation's expectations. As we celebrate Defence Day, we must not forget our Kashmiri brethren who have been fighting against occupation for over seven decades. We renew our resolve to support their just struggle for self-determination.

May Allah continue to give us the strength and courage to defend our beloved country, Aameen.

Pakistan Air Force Zindabad!

Pakistan Paindabad!
