PML-N discusses challenges posed to party

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday held a consultative meeting with his party leaders in which detailed discussions were held to tackle the challenges posed to the party as well as its leadership besides Nawaz Sharif health issues, sources said.

The participants of the PML-N meeting requested Nawaz Sharif to focus on his treatment in London and return back home after recovery from health issues.

The sources claimed that Shehbaz Sharif apprised his party leaders, including Shahid Khaqqan Abbasi, Khawaja Asif, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Khurram Dastgir, Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Rana Sanaullah, Marriyam Aurangzeb and others, about discussions held with former President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP co-Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari during his recent meeting in Karachi.

The meeting also deliberated upon forthcoming APC of opposition parties in Islamabad.

Ahsan Iqbal also apprised the participants about the outcome of decisions taken in the Rahber Committee of the opposition. He stated it was resolved in this meeting that the opposition would respond to the incumbent government's political, economic and governance failures by strengthening the collaboration between parties.

Talking to media after the party meeting, Ahsan Iqbal accompanied by party senior leaders, including Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Marriyum Aurangzeb and others, said that the PTI-led government's incompetence has become a disaster for the nation, as the country's economy has plunged.

Answering a question, he said the PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif was facing serious life threatening diseases when allowed by the sitting government to go abroad for treatment. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, there was delay in the treatment of Nawaz Sharif but he would return to the country soon after his health condition becomes stable, he said, adding: "The PML-N is united under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif." He also said that no compromise will be made on health of Nawaz Sharif and blamed the PTI government for politicizing his health issue. He hoped that the court will consider the health issues of Nawaz Sharif.

Criticising the PTI government, he said the incumbent government has totally exposed over its tall claims ranging from 10 million jobs to five million houses. They first talked about economy based on hens and eggs and now saying about cannabis based economy and may be in future they point towards poppy cultivation, he said.

Former PM and PML-N senior leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the party held consultations on health of Nawaz Sharif and it was unanimously decided that the party supremo would return to the country after his treatment.

To a query, he said resignation of Asim Saleem Bajwa is PTI's issue.

Answering another question, he said no decision has so far been taken about participation of Maryam Nawaz in the APC.

PML-N Punjab President, Rana Sanauulah said that those who had not come constitutionally cannot complete his constitutional term.

Advising Railways Minister, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed to concentrate on his ministry, Rana said no practical work has been started on Karachi circular railway.
