Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 157,496 tonnes of cargo comprising 120,127 tonnes of import cargo and 37,369 tonnes of export cargo including 7,251 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 120,127 tonnes comprised of 66,639 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,660 tonnes of DAP; 4,085 tonnes of wheat; 7,021 tonnes of rock phosphate and 38,722 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 37,369 tonnes comprised of 26,289 tonnes of containerised cargo and 11,080 tonnes of clinkers.

As many as 7,251 containers comprising of 4,902 containers of import and 2,349 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,110 of 20's and 1,754 of 40's loaded while 244 of 20's and 20 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 784 of 20's and 404 of 40's loaded containers while 151 of 20's and 303 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were seven ships namely Xin Shanghai, Esperanza-N, Ever Decent, Tiger Glory, Bomar Lynx, Green Phoenix and ECO Atlantic carrying oil tanker, chemical, DAP and clinkers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were eight vessels viz. Clemens Schulte, Cosco Belgium, Ever Ursula, Saxonia, Szczecin Trader, Dubai Charm, Tiger Glory and Seacon-6 carrying containers, oil tankers and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.

There are two ships namely Clemens Schulte and Cosco Belgium carrying containers respectively expected to sail on Wednesday.

There are six vessels viz. Bomar Milione, Hyundai Jakarta, Nord Merkur, Asavari, Genium Star and Xing Shou Hai carrying containers, lab equipment, mogas and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while five more vessels viz. Thor Sky, Cosco America, Ubena, Vasi Moon and Al Mahboobah carrying containers and chemical respectively are expected to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 174,588 tonnes comprising of 157,355 tonnes of import cargo and 17,233 tonnes of export cargo including 3,615 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 157,355 tonnes includes 48,746 tonnes of coal; 2,962 tonnes of LPG; 16,500 tonnes of palm oil; 12,500 tonnes of soyabean; 196 tonnes of steel coil; 21,573 tonnes of gasoline; 3,426 tonnes of palm kernel and 51,452 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 17,233 tonnes includes 17,233 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,615 containers comprising of 2,708 containers import and 907 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There are four ships namely Port Canton, Pan Crocus, Gas Athena and Fortune Glory carrying coal, LPG and palm oil respectively expected to sail on Wednesday afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, coal, soyabean, gasoline, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fourteen one vessels viz. Han Hui, KSL Don Yang, Al Bion Bay, IVS Naruo, Nord Magellon, Elim Peace, Ernden-IV, Kamari, Hasan, Bunga Lily, BW Acorn, Nord Vanus, Al-Soor-II and Felicity carrying general cargo, steel coil, coal, cement, soyabean, canola, gasoline, gas oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There was one ship viz. Bunga Lily carrying soyabean expected to take berth at Grain & Fertilizer Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There was one ship namely George Wasington Bridge carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday while another ship namely Maersk Bentonville carrying containers is due to arrive on Thursday.
