Cannot turn a blind eye to plight of Karachi people: PM orders finalization of Karachi Transformation Plan

Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar briefed on Monday Prime Minister Imran Khan on Karachi Transformation Plan.

The PM chaired a high-level meeting on Karachi Transformation Plan. The meeting was attended by Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Zaidi, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, Chairman NDMA Lt. Gen. Muhammad Afzal and secretaries of relevant ministries and senior officers.

During the meeting, the PM was briefed about the sewerage, drainage, solid waste management and transport problems in Karachi. Umar presented the proposed Karachi Transformation Plan for the permanent solution to these problems.

The premier contended that the development of the country is linked to the development of Karachi. "Cannot turn a blind eye to the plight of the people. The federation will play its full role for the solution and development of Karachi's problems," the PM said.

He also directed that the plan be finalized this week in consultation with all stakeholders so that its formal approval and implementation could begin.
