ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet is to approve passing of increase in tariff on to consumers under monthly fuel adjustments on Thursday (today).

The Nepra notified FCA for November 2019 to June 2020 on August 7,2020 for passing on to the consumers in two months (August and September) 2020.

The FCA rate in the billing month of August 2020 would be Rs 2.4226 per unit for domestic consumers upto 300 units consumption and private agricultural except lifeline consumers and Rs 1.1711 per unit for other categories of consumers. The FPA rate in the billing month of September 2020 would be Rs 2.8603 per unit( for domestic consumers upto 300 units consumption and private agriculture except lifeline consumers and Rs 1.0982 per unit (other consumers).

Power Division is of the view that any delay in charging FCA would result in cash shortfall of around Rs 17 billion for power sector.

Keeping in view the power sector liquidity issues, Power Division to approve the following :(i) passing on FCA to the end consumers as per the guidelines provided in Nepra FCA decision of August 7,2020 :(ii) the FCA applicable in August 2020 would be billed in the billing month of October 2020 to the already processed consumers batches for the billing month of August 2020 : and (iii) passing on the future FCA on real-time basis to end-consumers in their monthly bill as and when notified by Nepra.
