Work begins next month: NDMA to complete cleaning of Karachi's nullahs in one year: Umar

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar said that the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) will clear Karachi's nullahs and riverbeds in one year and work would be started from September.

The federal minister Wednesday said on Twitter that he will approve the plan, work on which will begin by September, and will be completed within one year. He said that the plan will "solve problem of Karachi drowning ever[y] time it rains heavily."

"Largest tax paying city of Pakistan deserves better than what it is facing today," he said.

According to his tweet, "Reviewed NDMA plan for clearing nullahs/river beds & solve problem of Karachi drowning every time it rains heavily. Insha-Allah will have plan approved & work started in Sep. Completion in 1 year. Largest tax paying city of Pakistan deserves better than what it is facing today."
