'Tiger Force Day' today: 10 billion saplings to be planted: Dar

LAHORE: While 'Tiger Force Day' is being marked on Sunday (today), Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Muhammad Usman Dar said Saturday that Tiger Force will plant 10 billion saplings across the country, under the green and clean tree plantation drive.

Talking to media here Saturday, Dar said Prime Minister Imran Khan was providing an opportunity to youth to become a part of the tiger force. "Youth are an asset of the country."

He said 1.2 million trees would be planted in Punjab while 0.5 million plants would be planted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to make Pakistan green and clean. Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that "he wants everyone to join him tomorrow in planting trees all over Pakistan."

The PM Imran Khan in a tweet said that he had asked his MPs, ministers, chief ministers and Tiger Force to participate in the biggest tree planting campaign in our history. The premier said "the target is to plant 3.5 million saplings in a day though we will try to exceed it."

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said that functions would be held across the province to plant more than 1.2 million saplings. He said the PTI government was committed to complete the target of planting 10 billion saplings in the country by 2023 to provide a clean atmosphere to the coming generations.
