Nationwide coronavirus cases jump to 283,137

ISLAMABAD: The nationwide coronavirus cases, with the emergence of over 900 new cases, have jumped to 283,137; death toll to 6,061, and recoveries 258,128. According to the Covid-19-related data issued here on Friday by the federal government and the provincial authorities, the country over the past 24 hours have registered 916 Covid-19 cases.

According to Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah the province reported 487 Covid-19 cases and nine deaths during the last 24 hours. In a statement, he said 12,420 tests were carried out during this period. With the new cases, the provincial total has risen to 123,246, while the death toll is 2,259. According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab, the province has reported 193 Covid-19 new cases and two deaths during the last 24 hours. The provincial total has risen to 94,040, while the death toll is 2,164. The active Covid-19 cases in Punjab stand at 5,790. According to the PDMA, 853 more people have recovered from Covid-19 in Punjab during the past 24 hours, which has taken the total to 86,086 recoveries.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has reported 107 new cases of coronavirus during the past 24 hours, taking the provincial total to 34,539. The KP Health Department said that one more person lost his life in the province, and two deaths not reported from previous days were added to the tally, taking the provincial death tally to 1,222. According to the KP Health Department, 766 new patients have recovered from the Covid-19 in the province, which took the total to 31,447 recoveries. Active cases in province are 1,870. Islamabad has reported 41 new Covid-19 cases and 36 recoveries on Friday, taking the total registered cases to 15,182, and total recoveries till date to 12,923. According to the District Health Officer (DHO) Islamabad, recovery percentage in the capital city stands at 85.12 percent, and the city has 2,089 active cases left, which is 13.75 percent. The federal capital has registered 170 deaths due to the coronavirus so far.

The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has reported five more Covid-19 cases and one death on Friday. So far, the AJK government has conducted 28,470 tests of which 2,129 cases were corona positive and 58 deaths. The government of Gilgit-Baltistan has reported 53 new coronavirus cases, taking the provincial toll to 2,257 of which 55 have died. The coronavirus globally has infected at least 19,358,362 persons of which 12,436,521 have recovered and 719,561 people have lost their lives.
