KARACHI: President of SITE Association of Industry (SAI), Suleman Chawla has urged Chief Minister Sindh to issue immediate instructions to departments concerned to clean SITE area and repair roads so as to continue industrial production without interruption.

Expressing serious concern over disastrous condition of infrastructure in SITE area Karachi (the first & largest industrial estate of Pakistan), he appealed the Chief Minister Sindh to take notice of the situation and issue immediate orders for garbage lifting and roads repair.

He said that Sindh government owned administrative body of the area known as 'SITE Limited' has completely failed to bring about any improvement in the infrastructure of SITE area due to lack of funds.

Due to heaps of garbage and broken roads, it has become very difficult for owners & workers to reach factories besides disturbing supply chain of exporting units. Due to inefficiency of SITE Limited, together with recent rains, infrastructure in SITE has worsened further. SITE Limited has no system of lifting garbage, neither nullah cleaning was done completely, due to which, nullah filth and garbage can be seen everywhere in SITE area, virtually transforming the area into a large 'Kachra Kundi'.

The high officials of SITE Limited were also taken around the area by SVP Saleem Nagaria and VP Farhan Ashrafi of SITE Association of Industry, who particularly identified the areas which needed urgent attention but to no avail. It seems that Sindh government is no more interested in promoting industrialization in the province.

President SITE Association suggested the Sindh Government to cut the expenditures being incurred on holding provincial assembly sessions and protocols of provincial ministers in the wake of situation created by corona pandemic & economic crisis and utilize them for the development of Karachi city in general and its industrial areas like SITE in particular.
