Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has made alcohol dope testing mandatory for cabin crew before the flight.

According to the notification, the cabin crew has been required to undergo a Breathalyzer test. The notification said that the purpose of the test was to prevent the use of alcohol and drugs in the crew.

The announcement comes after the Civil Aviation Authority took notice of smoking in the cockpit and cabin.

According to the PIA administration, the move was made by PIA in the context of international flight safety regulations and international civil aviation rules. The new advisory for the cabin crew of the PIA Medical Division will come into effect immediately.

It should be noted that earlier the Civil Aviation Authority was conducting tests of pilots and cockpit crew, now PIA will make it mandatory to test its air hosts before all flights.
