Covid-19 claims 11 more lives, infects 513 in Sindh: CM

KARACHI: As many as 513 new cases of Covid-19 were detected out of 8,742 tested samples lifting the tally to 118824 while 11 more patients died lifting the death toll to 2,162, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said in a statement issued here from CM House.

The chief minister said 513 new cases constituted six percent current detection rate. He added that so far 718,548 samples have been tested so far which diagnosed 118,824 cases constituting overall 17 percent detection rate.

The CM said t 11 more patients lost their lives while struggling against the virus lifting the death toll to 2,162 that constituted 1.8 percent death rate. He added that 1,077 patients recovered overnight raising the number of patients recovered so far to 108,480 that came to 91 percent recovery rate.

According to CM currently 8,182 patients are under treatment, of them 7,655 in home isolation, six at isolation centers and 521 in different hospitals. The condition of 489 patients is stated to be critical, of them 76 have been shifted to ventilators.

Murad Shah said out of 513 new cases of Covid-19, 138 have been detected from Karachi, they include East 43, South 38, Central and Korangi 20 each, Malir nine and West eight. He added that Shikarpur has 32 new cases, Ghotki 31, Hyderabad and Sukkur 26 each, Shaheed Benazirabad 23, Khairpur 20, Badin and Kashmore nine each, Mirpurkhas 17, Larkana and Jamshoro 14 each, Naushehroferoze and Sanghar 13 each, Umerkot 10, Tando Mohammad Khan eight, Dadu seven, Kambar six, Jacobabad five, Sujawal four, Matiari and Tando Allahayar three each and Thatta two.

The chief minister urged people of Sindh to adopt SOPs as part of day to day life.
