IHC warns officials of contempt proceedings regarding Faizabad sit-in
During the last hearing on February 13, IHC had given final opportunity to the government to submit the report till February 20 (today). They were also warned that if the respondent failed to submit the report the court would initiate contempt proceedings.
Last year, religious parties had been protesting at Faizabad interchange against a reversed change in the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat oath in the Elections Act 2017.
The protest had come to an end after the protesting parties and government reached an agreement. One of the agreements included the resignation of Federal Law Minister Zahid Hamid which he had later tendered.
