The 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League is set to start from September 19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with final to be played on November 8.

As per the Cricbuzz, the tournament’s Governing Council chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed the development, pending on all government clearances.

Earlier in the week, the BCCI had zeroed in on the UAE as the venue for the 13th edition of the tournament after long deliberations of hosting it in India had failed following the worsening of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

The Emirates Cricket Board, and SLC, had approached the BCCI with the offer of playing host to the IPL, stating that they had the required infrastructure for it.

With International Cricket Council (ICC) postponing the World T20 2020, scheduled to be played in Australia from October 18 to November 15, a window opened up for IPL to be held.

Further details regarding the plan of departure for teams and the full schedule of the tournament will be chalked out at the IPL Governing Council meeting next week.
