KARACHI: Trend of online booking for Qurbani-related services provided by professionals at their own facility is rising on this Eidul Azha.

To attract people several organisations have announced different attractive packages for collective sacrifices by displaying banners on roads and streets ahead annual festival of Eidul-Azha.

According to a survey, a majority of people may not be able to sacrifice animals individually on Eidul Azha as rates have increased many times as compare to previous years and income of general public has fallen sharply due to the pandemic.

Owing to corona pandemic people are also confused as to visit markets of sacrificial animals or opt for collective sacrifice or buy animals online on this Eidul Azha.

Many potential buyers might not visit to cattle market. Instead, they will try to purchase online or go for collective sacrifice.

So, this year, instead of depending on traditional cattle markets owners of sacrificial animals are also trying to sell the sacrificial animals through online platforms.

Keeping this fact in mind, many big cattle traders have already started advertising online.

Another facility available in the city is welfare religious organisations offering sacrifice on behalf of people.

They take the share, buy the animals, engage the butchers, complete the sacrifice process and distribute meat to each shareholder as per agreed weight.

Several cattle farmers told Business Recorder that they knew the number of customers would decrease that year as people's incomes had reduced, while many people had lost their jobs, service holders were not getting their salaries properly, income from businesses had been reduced due to the coronavirus pandemic. These people will not be able to buy sacrificial animals.

Though booked online is a relatively lesser known sector in the city, several companies have been offering such hassle-free service related to religious sacrifice to their customers for years.

When booked online ahead of Eid, a service provider will slaughter sacrificial animals and process and package the meat at their slaughterhouse and conveniently deliver the meat to the customer's home. While goat, lamb, and sheep are counted as one, cow, buffalo, and camel have seven shares per animal.
