KARACHI: Secretary General (Federal) of Businessmen Panel (BMP), Ahmad Jawad has welcomed the announcement of the number of trade bodies to announce their election schedule for 2020-21.

Talking to media, he said the pandemic is on its way towards its ending and finally different trade bodies have announced their election schedule to its members for the new office bearers of the 2020-21 term which will strengthen the process of democracy in our trade bodies.

He said all trade organisations are currently registered and regulated under TOO-2013 which has replaced TOO-2007 and 1961.

Now the senate standing committee on commerce seeks recommendation from the regulators of trade organisations that how we facilitate trade bodies in less developed areas; and for that Trade organisation rule 2013 may be amended.

"I personally feel the trade bodies in less developed areas should be given some exemptions so that they can compete with the big chambers too and raise their voices more openly before the government, so the government may receive a consensus policy draft from every corner."

In view of the prevailing difficult business conditions, full compliance of all or major new stringent requirements, may be extended to a specified period, especially for small chambers of commerce.
