DG Transit Trade extends scope to Wagha border

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has re-organized the powers and functions of the Directorate General of Transit Trade by extending its scope to Wagha border. The FBR has issued a notification here on Wednesday to notify the re-organization of the Directorate General of Transit Trade and specify the functions, jurisdictions and powers of its officials. Under the revised functions of the directorate, Director Transit Trade Lahore would be empowered to handle the clearance of international transit goods (TIR operations) from the Wagha border. The Lahore directorate would handle all the customs related matters of transit, transhipment of the goods and other related issues of the Punjab government. However, the FBR has clarified that till the Directorates of Transit Trade in these territorial jurisdictions become functional, the respective Collectorates of Customs would continue to handle the transit and transhipment.
