74 deaths, 2,521 new coronavirus cases reported across country in 24 hours

(Karachi) At least 74 deaths have been reported while 2,521 new coronavirus cases surfaced during 24 hours across the country.

According to government's health portal, the confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country has reached 248,872. The total number of fatalities due to the disease is 5,197 while recoveries tally is 156,700.

Similarly, 2,118 corona patients are in critical condition while 24,211 tests have been conducted. The total number of tests is 1,562,638.

The highest number of cases have been reported in Sindh with 103, 836 cases followed by Punjab with 86,556 corona patients. Similarly, 30,078 cases surface in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 11,157 in Balochistan, 14,023 in Islamabad, 1,658 Gilgit-Baltistan and 1,564 in Azad Kashmir.

Coronavirus cases are on the rise in Pakistan. The government eased lockdown and restrictions to support economy that led to an alarming increase in number of Covid-19 cases in the country.

In June, Prime Minister Imran Khan warned the people and and business community of taking a strict action for violating the standard operations procedures (SOPs) issued by the government to stem the spread of Covid-19.

The PM said he would personally monitor the implementation of the SOPs and receive daily report from the provinces on coronavirus situation.
