Trade and Industries Dept reviews various projects

LAHORE: The Punjab Trade and Industries Department on Thursday reviewed progress on various schemes being developed under the Dera Ghazi Khan Development Package including the Chakar Khan Rind University.

Various schemes including Artisan Village Taunsa Sharif, upgradation of Handicraft Development Centre, Government Technical Training Institute, Tunsa Sharif, Small Industrial Estate, Dera Ghazi Khan, are being completed to overcome deprivation in the Southern Punjab, said Secretary Industries and Trade Zafar Iqbal while presiding over a meeting. Besides, the Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PISC) small loans scheme is also being launched in D.G. Khan, he added.

He said the department has evolved a comprehensive plan to promote economic activities in the backward and neglected areas of the province and job opportunities are being created there by accelerating economic areas under the Industrial Policy 2018. He also directed the PSIC and Technical Education and Vocation Training Authority (TEVTA) to ensure timely completion of these schemes.
