ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister (CM) Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Hafiz Hafeez ur Rehman Friday said the GB government with the financial support of federal government was working on different sectors including power and road infrastructure.

The GB government was spending a huge amount on health, education, tourism and power sectors besides construction of roads.

More than 100 hotels were being constructed to boost tourism in this beautiful part of the region, he said.

"We were installing smart meters while the focus was being given to introduce LNG in Gilgit-Baltistan areas," he said.

Free education system was available in all government schools of GB to improve literacy rate and quality of education, the CM said.

The GB government was extending financial support to 20,000 children for better nutrition, he said. As many as 1400 teachers were recruited on merit, he added.

"We have short and long term plan for meeting demand of electricity in this area, " he said.

Many power projects through China Pakistan Economic Corridor would also be completed in near future, Hafiz Hafeez ur Rehman said.

To a question, he said that present government had maintained peace and tranquility in the province.

To another question he said a vast hydro potential was available in Gilgit-Baltistan that could produce 45,000 mega watt electricity for the country.
