Senate chairman summons defence minister over sending army to Saudi Arabia
A day after army made the announcement of sending troops to Saudi Arabia, Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani has summoned Defence Minister Khurrum Dastgir regarding it.
According to local media reports, the defence minister is expected to appear before the Parliament on Monday. Defence minister is also expected to deliver a policy statement on the recent development.
Army contingent being sent to KSA on training, advise mission: ISPR
On Thursday, Pakistan Army had announced that it will be sending its troops to ally Saudi Arabia on a 'training and advise mission'. According to a statement issued by the IS, the Pakistan Army troops 'will not be employed outside' Saudi Arabia.
This statement came following a meeting between Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Saudi Arabian Ambassador Nawaf Saeed Al-Maliki on Thursday. Matters of mutual interest including regional security situation came under discussion during the meeting.
