Rabbani doesn't allow tabling of CDA amendment ordinance in Senate
ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani Wednesday did not allow tabling of the Capital Development Authority (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018 as any ordinance had to be presented in the house (when in session) within 10 days of its promulgation.
He said the ordinance was due to be laid before the Senate on January 23, 2018, which was the first day of the sitting of the house held after its promulgation. Contrary to that, the ordinance was proposed to be laid on February 14, with the delay of 23 days, he added.
He directed the Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division to explain, with substantive reasons, delay of every single day since January 23, within two days.
The Senate chairman also directed the Secretariat to bring “the ordinance” on the Orders of the Day for the Senate sitting to be held on February 16.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Finance and Economic Affairs Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan liad the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Annual Progress Report for the period of 2016-17 before the Senate as required under section 17 of the Benazir Income Support Programme Act, 2010.
