Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Dr Farooq Sattar has announced that he will be issuing a show cause notice to the members of Rabita Committee on Saturday (today).

During his presser on Friday night, Sattar said that he has given the Rabita Committee members till Sunday to reunite under his leadership and save the party from splitting into two. The chief also voiced out his fear that the rift between the two factions was not over Kamran Tessori’s Senate ticket, but that Amir Khan wanted to take over and lead the whole party.

Discussing the letter which had been sent to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) by the Rabita Committee, Sattar said that this act of theirs was a stab to his back as the members wanted to snatch away his rights, local media reported. Sattar also scheduled a general workers' meeting for 4pm on Sunday.

Earlier on Friday, the Rabita Committee had written a letter to ECP to withdraw authority of  Sattar to issue ticket to party candidates to contest in Senate elections. However the ECP had maintained that, “The only acceptable senate ticket is the one that contains the signature of Dr Farooq Sattar.''

Speaking to the media, Rabita Committee member Faisal Sabzwari wondered why Sattar was giving so much importance to Kamran Tessori. Tessori's name had been given priority by Sattar, who wanted to nominate his name for the Senate seat. When asked about the letter which had been issued to ECP, Sabzwari said that the decision had been taken by the members when Sattar refused to attend a meeting with them.
