LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly adopted three government bills here Wednesday.    The House passed the Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill 2017, the Punjab Education Initiatives Management Authority Bill 2017, and the Punjab Zakat and Ushr Bill, 2017.

Today, the eighth sitting of the 34th session of the current assembly was started two hour and 37 minutes behind its scheduled time with Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal in the chair. 21 lawmakers were present at outset of the sitting. The proceedings remained suspended for two hours and ten minutes due to protest by the opposition parties.

The Chair deferred the Question-Hour on request of the treasury. Parliamentary Secretary for Parimary Health Naeem Ansari was to give answers as many as 20 listed Questions. The opposition lawmakers staged a walkout from proceedings against deferment of the Question-Hour.

Soon after start of the session, a PTI MPA Asif Mehmud pointed out the quorum. The Chair ordered to ring the bells for five minutes; however, the quorum was found incomplete even after the bells and the proceedings were suspended for two hours and ten minutes.

The House was adjourned to meet again on Thursday at 10am.
