ISLAMABAD: National Assembly's Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development on Tuesday unanimously approved the Emigration (Amendment) Bill, 2017, with some amendments.

The bill was moved by Dr, Shazia Sobia in the committee, meeting of which was held here under the chairmanship of MNA. Mir Aamir Ali Khan Magsi.

The committee was also briefed about the Migrant Resource Center, which had been established in collaboration with ILO in October 2015 and providing counseling services, pre-departure orientation to migrants and arranging orientation session on safe and informed migration.

Pakistan is a member of ILO since 1947, Pakistan signed 8 Fundamental Conventions and also ratified 36 ILO conventions.

The committee was further informed that 400 refund payments had been made to the affectees of Al-Watan Scheme for Overseas Pakistanis in Eastern Industrial Zone of Port Qasim Authority.

Among others, the meeting was attended by MNAs Suraiya Jatoi, Mian Najeebuddin Awaisi, Ms. Aliya Kamran, Ms. Sabiha Nazir, Ch. Muhammad Munir Azhar, Malik Muhammad Uzair Khan, Ms. Musarat Rafique Mahesar, Ms. Shagufta Jumani, Sardar Kamal Khan Bangulzai, Nasir Khan, Ms. Aisha, Dr. Shazia Sobia, Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development and officials from the relevant departments.
