The LNG will be regasified and supplied via pipeline to Beijing, Tianjin Hebei and Shandong areas, alleviating tight gas supply in the region.

The cargo arrived from Australia aboard the Zhongneng Beihai LNG tanker, the company said a in press release

Sinopec holds a 25 percent equity stake in the Australia Pacific LNG project in Queensland state.

The first 30,000-35,000 tonne cargo had been expected at Tianjin on Jan. 10, a source told Reuters in December; it was not clear why there was a delay.

The Tianjin LNG project has capacity to receive 3 million tonnes of LNG a year and supply 4 billion cubic meters a year of gas to the domestic market, according to Sinopec.
