The minister, in a statement here, said the main aim of their protest in Lahore was to obstruct the ongoing projects and sabotage the development process in the country. Leaders of both the parties had already failed in their earlier protest campaigns and they would again fail, he added.

He said both Imran Khan and Tahir-ul-Qadri had already watsed four and a half years in protests and sit-ins. Tahir-ul-Qadri had no political significance whereas Imran Khan and PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari had failed to deliver in the two provinces where their parties were in government, he added.

He said no one would be allowed to derail democracy. He said the opposition parties were demanding resignation of the Punjab chief minister, who had already shown excellent performance as compared to other provinces.

He said the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) was participating in the protest to divert people's attention from their worst performance in Sindh. Karachi had become a huge garbage dump despite the fact that the PPP's provincial government had sought help of the private sector for the purpose, he added.

He urged political parties to concentrate on preparations for next general election. The PML-N would be re-elected on the basis of its government performance in last four and a half years, which was even being predicted by international magazines, he added.
