NA witnesses introduction of 11 bills
ISLAMABAD: Eleven private members’ bills were introduced in the National Assembly on Tuesday and all of them were forwarded to the relevant committees for further deliberation.
The bills introduced in the house included the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2017 (Amendment in Article 224); the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2017; the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) (Amendment) Bill, 2017; the National Database and Registration Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2017; the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2017 (Amendment in Article 198); the Prevention and Control of Human Trafficking (Amendment) Bill, 2017; the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan (Amendment) Bill, 2017; the Pakistan Rights of Persons with Disability Bill, 2017; the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (Amendment) Bill, 2017; the Elections (Amendment) Bill, 2017 and the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2017 (Amendment in Article 91).
A bill – the Elections (Amendment) Bill, 2017 – was withdrawn by its mover while another bill - the National Database and Registration Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2017 - was deferred on the request of the mover.
Chairman Standing Committee on Interior Rana Shamim Ahmed Khan presented reports on the Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill, 2014 (insertion of section 389A); the Compulsory Sewage Water Management and Reprocessing Bill, 2017; the Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill, 2017 (insertion of section 364B) and the Compulsory Solid Waste Management and Recycling Bill, 2017.
The reports on ten other legislative proposals could not be presented due to early adjournment of sitting over lack of quorum which was pointed out by PTI MNA Shehryar Afridi.
