ISLAMABAD: Member National Assembly (MNA) Major (Retd) Tahir Iqbal on Monday said India was trying to halt China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project as it did not want to see economic progress of Pakistan through CPEC or "One Belt - One Road" project.

India cannot subjugate the people of Jammu and Kashmir or intimidate Pakistan through purchasing weapons worth billions of dollars, he said while talking to PTV.

Appreciating the Pakistan armed forces, he said our valiant forces were well trained and fully capable to defend the motherland.

He said CPEC and construction of Gawadar port would bring economic prosperity for the people of Pakistan.

To a question about India's violation along the Line of Control, he said no one could dare to intimidate Pakistan having a well trained Army, nuclear capability and JF-17 fighter planes, besides high morale of Jawans.

To another question regarding internal situation of the country, he urged the political parties to wait for next general elections and avoid supporting or participating in sit-in.

He said the opposition was scared of the popularity of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz which would clinch the next general election with thumping majority due to its performance and development work.
