Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Friday inaugurated Punjab Women Cricket Academy at Model Town. On the occasion, assembly members, Commissioner Lahore and District Co-ordination Officer Lahore, Director General LDA, former coach of Pakistan cricket team Intikhab Alam and various sports personalities were present.
Later talking to media, the Chief Minister said when Pakistan women cricket team returned from India after victory he promised construction of a women cricket ground, which has on Friday been honoured, and a modern cricket ground for women has been built at a cost of Rs 9.5 million. He said foolproof security arrangements would be made at the ground where women cricketers of Lahore as well as Punjab and the whole country will be able to play cricket without any fear. "A plan is also being made for providing transport facility to the players," he added.
