The committee meeting held under the chairmanship of Senator Kulsoom Parveen at Parliament House here.
Briefing the committee, Chief Commissioner Islamabad said the Sir Syed Memorial Society (SSMS) was constituted in 1984 by the Aligarh Old Boys’ Association as a tributes to Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. He said Society was registered under the 1861 act.
He said SSMS was rented to a university for many year and as per law it is illegal. He said Supreme Court ordered to vacate it and Capital Development Authority would vacate till June 2018.
He said corruption was pointed out in SSMS by audit reports and convener Senator Kulsoom Parveen asked for sending questioner to Sir Syed Memorial Society and report should be presented in next meeting of the committee.
Sir Syed Memorial Society Director Nighatt Mirza said the plot was allotted by General Zia ul Haq and one hundred million were spent on development.
