Barcelona announced on Thursday the signing of Colombian defender Yerry Mina from Brazilian club Palmeiras.

He will wear the number 24 shirt left vacant by Jeremy Mathieu, who joined Sporting Lisbon last summer. Yerry Mina has signed the contract till June 30, 2023.

The cost of the transfer is 11.8 million euros and the termination clause is 100 million. Barcelona had planned to sign Mina at the end of the season but brought the deal forward. The 23-year-old follows Philippe Coutinho in joining the Catalan giants this month.

It remains unclear if Nou Camp boss Ernesto Valverde will loan Mina out to aid his development or keep in the first-team picture.

Barcelona continue their quest to win the treble this season when they take on Celta Vigo in the Copa del Rey tonight.
