The Annual Technical Conference 2011 is being jointly organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineer (SPE) and Pakistan Association of Petroleum Geoscientists (PAPG) on November 22-23, 2011 at Islamabad. Theme of the conference is "Energy Security through Indigenous resources".
Federal Minister for Petroleum & Natural Resources will inaugurate the conference, whereas a CEO of one of the leading European E&P Company will deliver the keynote address. The meeting of all CEOs and representatives of various companies was held here. The objective of meeting was to brief the participant about the arrangement of the conference. The chairman of the conference Abdul Wahid Chughtai briefed the participant about the conference programme.
He expressed his gratitude to all the representative of E&P companies and service providers for the financial and technical support in organising this conference. It was explained to the participant that it is the only premier event of Pakistan's Petroleum Industry in which professionals from E&P companies, academia and service providers present their technical papers, application of innovative technology and share experience. This forum provides excellent opportunity for academia to directly interact with industry and can discuss prevailing technical issues and problems.
Shale gas is the new area need to be exploited in different part of the country. Due to its importance, special course for the exploitation of shale gas will be arranged one day before the conference. The professional and academia will be invited to attend this course.
Panel discussion is another important feature of this conference in which representative of Ministry of Petroleum, different provinces and CEO of companies operating in different area of the country will participate and discuss the prevailing issue working in that area.
In the conference, more than 100 delegates from the 16 universities are invited and student paper contest have also been arranged. SPE and PAPG have student chapter in all universities of Pakistan and the objective is to create healthy activities in the institutions.
