Three-day national anti-polio campaign from January 15
MIRPUR: Three-day national Polio eradication campaign will be launched across the state from January 17 during which at least 700,000 children less than five years of age in the capital district will be administered polio vaccine/drops, it was officially declared.
AJK Health Department sources told APP here on Monday that mobile teams comprising paramedical staff will visit door to door to manage anti-polio campaign in all ten districts of AJK.
In the capital district of Muzaffarabad a total of 352 mobile teams would be set up including 58 fix sites and 18 transit points to administer the anti-polio drops to the children during the campaign.
The source said that 28 Zonal supervisors and 88 area officers have been appointed who will monitor teams along with provision of vaccines and other necessary goods to the field staff on time and they will gather the record from field teams in the evening and send it to district control rooms. They said that area officer will be responsible for giving Polio and Vitamin A drops to all children.
In this regard, Police deployments should be made possible on transit points to give polio drops to all those children who will be traveling on the scheduled dates and 8 zonal officers have already been deployed on district level, the DHO informed.
Meanwhile it was decided in a high level meeting that the polio campaign control room will be set up in the Deputy Commissioner Offices in all districts of the state in which officers will remain on duty to fulfill this campaign on time.
