Government hikes petrol prices on New Year's Eve

The price of petrol has been increased by Rs4.06 per liter and will now be available at Rs81.53, announced Finance Advisor to Prime Minister Miftah Ismail New Year's eve on Sunday.

Similarly, the price of high speed diesel will be Rs89.91 per liter, with an increase of Rs3.96 per liter, whereas light speed diesel will be available at Rs58.37 per liter with an increase of  Rs6.25. The price of superior kerosene oil has increased to Rs64.30 per liter.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority had recommended the prices of petroleum products to be increased and the prime minister had approved of these rates, local media reported.
