Rejecting all the allegations made by India, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif has said that the meeting between Kulbhushan Jadhav and his family was permitted on humanitarian grounds and that security check was agreed by both sides prior to the meeting.

Asif further said that the meeting had been permitted in line with Islamic teachings and in the tradition of compassion and grace. According to press release issued by the Foreign Office, the minister said that the Indian family was treated with dignity and was successful by the fact that Jadhav’s mother thanked Pakistan after the visit.

The minister further said that the visitors were given their belongings back after the meeting. Only Jadhav’s wife’s shoes were withheld as they had detected a metal chip and are analyzing it.

Sushma Swaraj alleges Pakistan used Jadhav’s family meeting as propaganda tool

Earlier, Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj had accused Pakistan of using Jadhav’s family meeting as a propaganda tool. In her report to the Rajya Sabha – the upper house of India’s parliament, she said that Pakistan had violated many human rights and had sought to get permanent relief from International Court Justice, which has stayed Jadhav’s execution.

After the meeting between the Indian spy and his family, Subramanian Swamy, an Indian lawmaker belonging to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, had said that India needs to take revenge from Pakistan for forcing Jadhav's wife and mother to remove their mangalsutra, bindi and bangles, according to Indian media reports.

During a press conference on Thursday, Inter-Services Public Relations Director-General Major General Asif Ghafoor had said, ''Kulbhshan was given the chance to meet his family purely on humanitarian grounds. This should have been appreciated. But India will never do that.''

Jadhav met his mother and wife in Islamabad on December 25. It was their first meeting since his arrest from Balochistan last year on charges of espionage and terrorism. The family meeting lasted almost 40 minutes through a glass partition.
