The Karachi Port handled 85,497 tonnes of cargo including 66,654 tonnes of import cargo, 18,843 tonnes of export cargo and 2,211 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 66,654 tonnes comprised of 12,396 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,096 tonnes of general cargo; 3,039 tonnes of bulk cargo and 47,123 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 18,843 tonnes comprised of 8,721 tonnes of containerised cargo; 310 tonnes of general cargo; 7,812 tonnes of bulk cargo and 2,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Five ships sailed out to sea during the reported period. Six vessels are currently at the berths.
Eight ships namely Glory, Kathec Rickmers, Chrisopigl Lady, Al-Soor-II, CS Summer, Gas Sulawesi, Seena-4 and Kasugta carrying containers, diesel oil, palm oil, LPG and phosphoric acid are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of two vessels viz CV Glory and MT Gas Sulawesi carrying containers and LPG are expected to take berths at Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Friday, while a container ship namely CV MSC Aurelie is due to arrive on the same day. A container ship namely CV Maersk Georgia is due to arrive at Port Qasim on Sunday.
