Rana Afzal Khan replaces Ishaq Dar as Minister of Finance

Ishaq Dar has been replaced by Rana Afzal Khan as the State Minister of Finance by the federal government.

Confirming the appointment to local media, Afzal said that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has approved his appointment as state minister for finance.  He further added that a formal notification is being expected later after which he will take oath.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar resigns

Afzal is currently the federal parliamentary secretary for finance. The Ministry of Finance was left vacant after Dar’s resignation was accepted by PM Abbasi. Dar has been declared a proclaimed offender by an accountability court for not appearing before the court for his corruption hearing filed by the National Accountability Bureau.
