KARACHI: Sindh government can revise the provincial labour policy provided comprehensive and viable recommendations are forwarded by local industrialists, said the provincial minister for labour, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah.

Talking to industrialists pertaining to different parts of the province, in his office Friday, he said the government is equally committed to protect the due interest of investors and the rights of the workers.

"PPP government is keen to maintain the fine balance between rights and responsibilities of the concerned stakeholders," said Syed Nasir Hussain Shah.

The minister said improvement in policies is an ongoing process and the provincial government is open to review the current labour policy making it all the more efficient and workable.

He urged the owners of local industrial units and factories to necessarily get registered all their workers with the labour department as government will not allow any complacency in this regard.

"The party mainly belongs to the workers and their genuine rights will be duly protected without any compromise to the legal interests of the investors," emphasized the minister.

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said propositions by industrialists regarding establishment of new labour colonies would be contemplated with the expectation that they too would make their needed contributions.

He said the issue of health safety of workers and hazard free working conditions in all industrial units, at every level, is a matter of utmost importance and can not be ignored.

"Sindh government is absolutely committed to realize its responsibilities," he said.
