A three-member SC bench headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal was to conduct hearing in the case after a span of one year and eleven months.The court adjourned hearing of the case due to absence of lawyers till January 12.
Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique had secured 123,416 votes whereas his opponent Hamid Khan of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf obtained 84,495 votes from NA-125 constituency in the general election 2013.
Hamid Khan had challenged Saad Rafique’s victory, alleging that the PML-N candidate had rigged the elections. The tribunal deseated Saad Rafique and ordered reelection in the constituency, which was challenged by the minister in the SC.
