During his five-day tour of the Middle East, United States (US) Secretary of Defense James Mattis is all set to visit Pakistan on December 4.

Mattis will meet Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa. During his day long visit, the leaders will discuss regional security, peace, Afghan conflict and other bilateral issues.

US Secretary of State Tillerson lands in Pakistan

According to a press release issued by the US Department of Defense, this visit to Pakistan will be Mattis’s part to 're-affirm the enduring US commitment to partnerships in the Middle East, West Africa and South Asia' during his trip to three other countries.

Mattis will visit Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan and Kuwait during his tour. After his visit to Pakistan, the defense secretary will end his trip by visiting Kuwait on December 5.
