City Council meeting passed four resolutions
KARACHI: The council of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation met on Wednesday under the chairmanship of the Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar gave approval of the four different resolutions besides adopting the proceedings of earlier meetings.
In the beginning of the session, a resolution presented from all the members and passed unanimously condemning any changes or amendments in the blasphemy law and demanded awarding strict punishment, said a statement on Wednesday.
Parliamentary leaders of various parties and other members of the city council including Junaid Mukati, Aman Khan Afridi, Alam Zaib Alai, Syed Muzammil Shah, Fazlur Rehman, Mairaj Shah Jilani, Abdul Rahim Shah and Rahat Hussain Siddiqui,Mufti Shameem Khan and Sahib Khan Jaskani took part in the discussion.
Mairaj Shah Jilani said the Raja Zafar-ul-Haq Committee Report should be made public and judicial enquiry be conducted in this very sensitive matter so that the persons responsible for this could be identified and punished.
The other resolutions which had been passed by the council include regarding 20 percent increase annually in the rents of the shops, offices, stalls and ware houses located in the KMC markets and shopping centers which was approved with majority votes.
Another resolution on transfer of posts of officers and other staff from different departments of KMC to EC&CS, City Warden and MUCT departments and their inclusion in the schedule of establishment of these departments was also passed with majority votes.
The city council also passed a resolution unanimously about the allocation of imprest account for the E Communication & Coordination Section.
The meeting also offered fateha for the departed soul of the mother of UC 25 chairman Shahnawaz Siddiqui.
