Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will inaugurate on Wednesday a coal power plant under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in Port Qasim.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) had earlier given 48 months time for the completion of the coal power plant. However, in 21 months, 80% of the project has been completed. According to local media, the project will be completed at an estimated cost of $1.98 billion.

The PM is set to arrive in Karachi today on a one-day visit. He will also conduct high-level meeting later today, to discuss the law and order situation in the metropolis.
