CM vows to spread tertiary education to district level in KP

He was chairing a meeting on establishment and streamlining Buner University at CM House Peshawar. The meeting was attended by Minister for Auqaf Haji Habibur Rehman, Adviser to Chief Minister on Higher Education Mushtaq Ghani, Secretary Higher Education Zahir Ali Shah, Secretary Finance Shakeel Qadir, Chief Planning Officer Muhammad Zaman Marwat, VC Abdul Wali Khan University/ Project Director of Buner University Muhammad Kursheed Khan, Special Secretary to CM Akhtar Saeed Turk and other concerned authorities.

Pervez Khattak reminded that quality education and efficient educational services were part of the PTI’s manifesto and called upon the officials and experts to collectively contribute to the standardization and quality education in the province.

It is pertinent to mention here that University at Buner was initially established as regional campus of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan and thereafter was upgraded to the status of a full fledge University having the capacity to provide educational facilities to one thousands students.

The meeting focused on different issues that included the allocation of Rs. 60 million for the Buner University, the complaints about the substandard construction work of newly established academic block, land acquisition and provision of transport and other facilities to the university and made a number of decisions.

Pervez Khattak directed for the quality education and quality construction in the university, forming a committee to look into the complaints of substandard construction work and fix responsibility in this regard.

The report should reach him within a week. He also approved creation of additional facilities adding that a PC-I should be prepared and he in principle agreed to creation of different facilities.
