Railways Daily Passengers Association (DPA) Chairman Hafiz Abdul Qayyum Sunday said that for the last three weeks, the schedule of almost all trains had badly been affected, especially trains at the Narowal section had been departing late from the Lahore station.

He said that 209-Up Faiz Ahmad Faiz Express train departed late daily for one to two hours without any reason, adding that the train passed through deserted area and passengers had to go to far off areas after leaving the train. When the train gets late in reaching its destination, such passengers have to face difficulties in reaching their homes.

"The delay can cause serious issues regarding security and protection of passengers," he added.

Malik Sajid, a passenger of the train, said that 209-Up train was usually placed late at the platform and then it was signalled late to depart which was painful for the families and other passengers.

He demanded the PR administration monitor the schedule of the trains and ensure that the staff follows the timetable.

When this scribe tried to contact PR divisional superintendent Sufyan Dogar, he did not attend the call.
