Lahore High Court (LHC) here Friday dismissed an election petition against the victory of PML-Q MNA Sardar Bahadar Khan from NA-181, Layyah. Defeated candidate of PML-N, from the constituency Sahibzada Faiz-ul-Hassan, had filed a petition accusing the winning MNA of poll rigging but failed to prove so in the court.
The petitioner had submitted that the respondent MNA obtained 58,797 votes, while he actually acquired 56951 votes as 4,241 votes were rejected at different polling stations.
He said the votes rejected by presiding officers were never re-examined, despite the fact that the petitioner filed application to the concerned officer in this regard. He alleged that the rejected votes were of his supporters, which the presiding officers rejected at the behest of the respondent MNA in order to manage the victory.
