Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), has rejected any talks with Taliban saying, "they are enemies of Islam and humanity and must be defeated." SCI criticised PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif for proposing talks with the Taliban and said, "we condemn Nawaz Sharif's statement regarding dialogue with Taliban as they have no regard for Islam or humanity."
SCI has announced to hold a national Ulema and Mushaikh Convention on Thursday in Lahore to launch an agitation against heinous attack at the shrine of Hazrat Ali Hajveri, popularly known as Data Ganj Bakhsh on last Thursday night.
SCI has invited well known Sajjada Nashin of revered shrines, Dargahs, scholars and heads of religious educational institutions from the four provinces and Azad Kashmir to attend the "Yaa Rasul Allah" convention to chalk out an effective strategy against the banned extremist organisations.
The grief stricken SCI blamed extremist outfits Lashkar Jhangvi and Sipah-e-Sahaba for terrorist acts in the country. They alleged that these banned extremist organisations are being allowed to freely act and hit their opponents.
Meanwhile, the sprawling provincial metropolis knows as "Data de Nagri" (city of Data) for centuries remained in a state of shock, mourning and grief on Sunday as thousands of devotees paid homage to the greatest saint of the subcontinent.
Among those who went to pay their homage included Chairman Tehrik-e-Insaf Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri.
Talking to newsmen, Imran condemned the Federal and provincial governments for their failure to protect even the most sacred religious places in the country. Imran said there is a deep routed conspiracy to divide the nation on sectarian basis.
Imran claimed had he been the Prime Minister, he would have controlled the terrorism in just 90 days in the country. Former Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri said, "Muslims are killings Muslims, thus they do not need any foreign enemies" SCI leader Sahibzada Fazal Karim, MNA said it is a tragedy that Data Darbar's Langar Khana remained closed for three days for first time in the shrine's 900 years history and thousands of poor people who used to get three times meals from the Darbar remained hungry during past three days.
However, shopkeepers of the area who cook and supply the Langar said that after three day mourning they would restart cooking the Langar from Monday (today) and the poor can get food as before.
