Faisalabad Dry Port has emerged as biggest Dry Port of the Country set-up in the Private Sector within short span of 14 years. This Up-Country Dry Port is run by a 30-Member Board of Trustees who are all prominent industrialists, Exporters/ importers and leading Business Tycoons.
Hitherto, this Dry Port was doing roaring business by handling over 33,000 Export Cargo Containers and 6,500 import Consignments worth Billions of Rupees but after global and domestic recession and other factors like un-scheduled and consistent Load-Shedding and Gas Shutout, the Export/Import Business at Faisalabad Dry Port has dropped by 50 %.
It is quite obvious that under the prevailing circumstances, the industrial production in Textile Hub of Faisalabad like other parts of the Country has considerably been declined. This has resulted in heavy decrease of Textile Exports and in case appropriate & immediate remedial measures are not taken, the country would not be able to attain the set target of 24 Billion Dollars Export this year.
-- In the resent Biennial Elections of the FDPT, Malik Muhammad Anwar (Chief Executive, Orient Coating) was elected Chairman and Muhammad Saeed Sheikh (Chief Exertive, Rashid Textile Printing Industries) as Vice Chairman for the Year 2010-2011, who have taken the charge of their respective Office w.e.f 1st January 2010.
-- Faisalabad Dry Port is the only Up-Country Dry Port, which is certified under ISO and its certification under the Custom-Trade Participation against Terrorism (CTPAT) has been finalised.
-- We have developed on-line Tracking System and installed Trackers in all the Registered Vehicles. The enrooted Cargo Containers (between Faisalabad and Karachi) could be monitored round-the-clock by visiting our Website (www.faisalabaddryport.com) to locate the exact position of their enrooted Cargo Containers.
-- Faisalabad Dry Port is operating 24 hours daily and our 2 latest model Italian Reach Stackers handle the Cargo expeditiously.
-- On arrival of Export Cargo Vehicles at Dry Port, these are first weighed and then again weighed after custom inspection and departure to Karachi and these are weighed for the third time after reaching Karachi Port. This system has eliminated the pilferage of enrooted Cargo.
-- We have constructed a multi-storey Plaza at Dry Port where the offices of FDPT, Shipping Lines, Clearing & Forwarding Agencies and Registered Transports are operating.
-- We have provided Sufficient Office Accommodation to Model Custom Collectorate free of charge in this Plaza where basic amenities are also being provided by the FDPT. In this Plaza "One-Window Operation Facilities" are also available.
-- Apart from serving the Exporters/importers & Business Community, the Dry Port is also actively participating in the SOCIAL Programmes and adopted 5 adjoining Government Schools and added new class rooms therein.
The FDPT also donated Tents worth Rupees 5 Million to earth-quake hit people of Azad Kashmir and NWFP and supplied Medicines of Rs 5 Lac to IDPs of Swat and Malakand and are regularly donating Rs 1 Lac to Faisalabad Liver Centre.
-- The FDPT have very cordial & congenial relations with Faisalabad Customs and the Collector Customs, Mr Khawar Farid Maneka and his Team try their optimum to solve the problems being confronted by the local Exporters and Importers. Worthy Collector has allowed the FDPT not to de-stuff the Export Cargo and directed his staff to conduct Custom inspection on the loaded Cargo Vehicles which is indeed a great favour.
